Currently there are about 200 families in Akumal that are depending on donations of food for their livelihood. If it is in your budget please send a small donation. $15 feeds a family of 4 for 2 weeks
Hekab Be is not only closed but some of the families we serve are facing food insecurity. Most jobs in Akumal are connected to tourism: no tourists, no income.
REALLY GREAT NEWS PART 1:
📷 Various local community members and businesses have been working with Hekab Be to organize an on-going food drive. There are around 700 families living in Akumal and so far, the partnering groups, spearheaded by the Hekab Be Team, have been able to provide about 200 vulnerable families with food deliveries every two weeks .📷📷Family receiving food donation.Food drive

We know with this crisis, everyone is hurting. Some of us are experiencing our own financial problems, but if you are able to contribute anything at all, please know your donation supports families in need. A food delivery costs around $15 and will feed a family for 2 weeks.
