Valuable Information to know about Cancun Airport
People flying to Mexico MUST have a VALID PASSPORT. EVERYBODY regardless of age and nationality needs a valid passport to enter Mexico. Birth certificates and IDs are not longer valid for traveling to Mexico.

Tourist Card – EVERYBODY traveling to Mexico needs to fill out a TOURIST CARD available online. Some airlines no longer provide Tourist Cards to their passengers so please make sure to fill out the form online and print it before a trip to Mexico.
Customs Forms – The airline will provide a Customs form. The Customs Form is ONE per FAMILY.

MEXICAN PESOS – Visitors will need Mexican Pesos for tips, shopping, restaurants, etc. Be aware that some Currency Exchange desks and ATMs charge high fees per transaction. On a recent inspection, a $100.00 USD ATM withdraw in Cancun cost $19.00 USD after adding all the fees and taxes. Avoid paying high fees by pre-arranging a currency exchange for a Low Flat Fee per transaction regardless of the amount exchanged. More info at https://www.cancunairport.com/money.html

DUTY FREE – Yes, there are DUTY FREE SHOPS at all Arrival Terminals. Some stores are offering a 10% discount to arriving passengers. Go to https://www.cancunairport.com/dutyfree.html for more information.
Hotel Transportation – Visitors needing to get to their hotel. To arrange transportation go to https://www.cancunairport.com/transportation.html. There ARE NOT taxis available at the arrival terminals as in other airports, visitors MUST pre-arrange transportation prior to arriving to Cancun Airport.
Terminals Shuttle – There is a FREE Shuttle between Terminals. The shuttle is available all day at set times from terminal to terminal and it is ABSOLUTELY FREE.

BUS Transportation – If traveling to other towns or cities in Mexico visitors may be able to take a bus from Cancun Airport, visit https://www.cancunairport.com/public-buses.html

Possible scam:

Possible scam at Cancun airport: We always advise that you talk to NO ONE in the airport once you have cleared immigration & customs. Transfers wait OUTSIDE the glass doors. This was posted elsewhere today
“As we walked towards the glass doors I paused to read the instructions upon my paperwork and a man in uniform swooped forwards, asked to see my paperwork, then calling me by name asked us to follow him. We assumed he was with the transfer company, his uniform might have had a logo, we honestly didn’t check, first mistake.
He took us to a booth which looked like it was selling trips but he assured us that our transfer was in hand, scrutinising our paperwork again and would wait for us whilst he just explained a few things. At first he gave us what sounded like general info about the area then he started showing us trips we might want to go on. All of this was taking a lot of time and we became increasingly anxious to leave. Eventually we became rather rude and told him that we had to go. Of course our transfer was long gone. The man had nothing whatsoever to do with the transfer company, our bad, we are usually sharper but were obviously tired from the flight. Thankfully a Tui rep took us to someone from our transfer company, and finally, after much checking of paperwork and hanging around, they took us to our hotel.”
