This is what Liz wrote regarding snorkeling on Friends of Akuaml Bay FB page…

        Thought this needed a re-post:
        Snorkeling Etiquette – Don’t Touch – Don’t Feed!
        Please!!
Do not feed or touch the turtles, rays or fish – Introducing new food that is not natural to them is detrimental to their health. It also encourages aggressive behavior in them.
Please keep your distance and just observe them – Go slow, give them space and enjoy. There is no need to “pet or touch” these beautiful creatures!
Do not hover over a turtle. They need to go to the surface to breathe.
Watch where you put your fins! If you have to be vertical in the water be sure that your fins are not kicking coral formations below. Horizontal is best – Fins UP!
Do not stand on or touch the reef. It is a living creature. Touching and standing on it kills it.
Please – don’t spend your money with tour operators that practice or encourage any of the above behavior.
