We arrived home to Scotland yesterday after leaving on Wednesday morning.
We stayed in villa 40 JR suite swim up (FS)

The room was perfect and the view outstanding from the pool/patio.

The butlers in villa 40 (Luis and Yari) are extremely friendly and extremely helpful and did an amazing job arranging carts and booking bravo and sumptuori ( these cannot be booked on the app) Luis spent loads of time chatting to my son about football and showing genuine interest in him, Yari was continually checking in to see how our days were and if she could help in anyway. Our mini bar wasn’t filled 1 day and they had somebody sent over to fill it – within an hour of request.
We tried all the restaurants except Portofino as been to costa Mujeres and didn’t enjoy it there. The food was great and we felt the best one was La Paisano.The Chimichurri is to die for.
We had a night in Bravo which was really fun and was really enjoyable.
The carts run from white sands all the way down to villa 40 and some times there’s a wait….. nothing to long. The butlers in FS advise to give 10 minutes notice for a cart ( we rarely waited 5) what’s a small wait when on holiday? We discovered on the last day if we walked from our villa across the roundabout and passed the opposite villa that there is a walkway that took us to the nest area in about 3 minutes and could normally catch site of some wildlife on the way.
We eat breakfast in the nest and if you can, seek out Fernando who was excellent. We had coffee and mimosas within minutes of being seated daily.
We tended to have big breakfasts and then wait for dinner so didn’t bother with lunch much although the TRS beach bar had lovely food if we were hungry.
We only visited the colonial pool twice. It was too busy for our son and we couldn’t get near the bar but much preferred the swim out where the staff from the FS beach bar would come and get drink orders.
The cart drivers were great and our son always got to sit up front and was looked after if out on his own. (he’s 14)
We took dollars tipped mini bar most days but tipped butlers and cleaners/turn down when we left.
We tipped the carts and restaurant staff most days.
We had a brilliant time and would absolutely return. The let down for us was not the hotel, staff or services but a small minority of mannerless guests. We witnessed a family race ahead of a man with a sleeping baby to get on a cart ahead of him and another family skip the restaurant queue to beat a family with a member in a wheelchair. That is just a couple of things we observed on our time there.
We absolutely recommend this resort. Relax, enjoy you’re on holiday and don’t stress the small stuff
