Hi,
Kantenah Bay is considered one of the most important beaches for turtle nesting in Playa del Carmen; In the 2018 season it was the third beach with the highest nesting record in Playa del Carmen.
For this reason, in each nesting season since 2012, we manage the permissions for the operation and assembly of a turtle camp.
The main activity is during the night, when the turtles arrive at the beach to nest.
The work of the technicians is to check the physical condition of the turtles and monitor the spawning, then the eggs are relocated in the turtle camp where they keep them out of reach of predators.
From 2012 to the end of the 2018 season, 6,549 nests had been registered and 613,987 baby turtles had been released.
