Fabulous trip to TRS Coral – Christmas/NY 2020

        food album

My 20+ yr old daughter and I stayed at TRS Coral over Christmas and New Year. This was our 2ndtrip to Coral, having visited last Christmas shortly after it opened. The resort has really improved some of the little things from a year ago when it was a newly opened hotel. Attention to detail is everywhere.

As a long time Palladium visitor, I was greeted warmly by management. I mentioned it was my daughter’s birthday the next day and he assured me they would provide decorations and other special touches. As the hotel was full I was given a room with a king bed, with arrangements to move to a room with 2 beds the next day. The rooms are stunning, many with sweeping views & contemporary touches. I had a welcome champagne and other goodies. The first thing I did was order room service through the TV. Shortly after arrival my butler Pavel knocked on the door to welcome me, present me with a vase of fresh flowers and give me an orientation. Though I had stayed at the resort previously I found Pavel’s presentation interesting as he was very knowledgeable. Everything I had requested through e butler was in place. He mentioned that they would move me the next day prior to my daughter’s arrival and I didn’t have to worry about a thing. They did as promised and I was moved with no inconvenience to a beautifully decorated room. (Note if you need a butler and they’re not at their desk just call the number for service.)

FOOD: I found the food improved from last year. We had a lovely breakfast each day in Capricho, after a warm greeting from the lovely hostess. Capricho has a unique buffet with small dishes as well as a la carte service. I usually had lunch at Helios although the Christmas day pool BBQ was special so I ate there. I also tried Es Nui on the family side which was very good. For dinner we tried all the restaurants on TRS as well as the Japanese and Thai. All meals were beautifully presented and enjoyable. Service was top notch.
STAFF: What can I say? Staff are what makes this so special. I hesitate to mention names as I inevitably will miss someone. My two butlers Pavel & Rene were awesome. If I didn’t see them on my way out in the morning they’d come find me on the beach to ask if I needed anything. Pavel introduced me to the pool concierge Jorge who helped me find a lounger and umbrella at the pool when I needed one. I usually sat on the beach where smiling Cesar kept my mug cold & full. Juan was also a great beach waiter, keeping everyone’s glasses full. I did see him deliver food on a couple of occasions. I think almost every wish can be met. Just speak to your butler. Somehow almost every single staff person I met called me by name and when asked for something responded “my pleasure”.

POOL: The pool is large & lovely. There is soft music and activities such as water robics, pool biking, live music from violinists or sax players on some afternoons. It’s a nice “chill” atmosphere with excellent service.

BEACH: Long and lovely with soft white sand. Plenty of loungers & umbrellas. Staff will move an umbrella if needed. One can walk for miles in either direction. Most mornings they would have yoga with a violin playing and usually had it again 5. Drink service and food can be arranged .Beach volleyball available.

ACTIVITIES: I am a beach bum and mainly read. My daughter enjoys working out so went to the gym, spa and partook in the water biking at noon. There are also dance classes, and we tried the cooking lessons and wine tasting. Usually there is something planned for 4 o’clock. They have greatly improved the communications for events so check the TV or check the activities posted near the pool. At night there is sometimes a band or a party at the Gravity bar on TRS.The TRS lobby bar is nice and Martine sometimes plays the piano. When he saw me he remembered my song! The Village is in the center of the resort and often has live music, a show, and/or activities outside of Chic before & after the Cabaret. On Christmas Day Santa arrived in the Village by helicopter! There is a very nice coffee shop in the Village which is popular.

SIDE TRIP: We took a taxi to the Juarez ferry one morning and went to Isla Mujeres. I had hired Isla Robby from FB for a golf cart tour. Daniel was our driver. Very enjoyable day.

TRANSFERS: I have used AGI Tours for 16 years. They continue to offer prompt & professionals service. They just added a boat to their fleet and now offer private boat tours which I haven’t tried.

I cannot thank the staff & management enough for a fabulous and memorable visit. The resort and the Palladium brand just keeps getting better. There were so many little special touches and surprises during our stay that I can’t mention them all. My daughter & I feel like royalty when we are there and can’t wait to return.
Here are a few memorable people whose names I jotted down. (I didn’t always have my pen so forgive me if I missed you.) Anita, Mayra, David, Filiburto, Omar, Juan, Josefat.
