Vapes in Mexico

This was posted on Trip Advisor by a local.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                           “It is illegal to import e-cigarettes & vapes, and also illegal to sell them in Mexico.
BUT, you’ll hear conflicting stories about visitors bringing them in because different things are happening at Customs — it depends on the decision of the Customs officer.
Some visitors brought vapes into Mexico because they weren’t found at Customs. When found by Customs, some visitors had their vapes confiscated, while other visitors were allowed to keep their vapes. One visitor was allowed to keep a vape after paying a “fine” to a Customs officer.
Here in Playa del Carmen, vape shops still sell vapes, though one store removed them from display and kept them in a back room.
If you have a vape in Mexico, you can use it. There is no law against vaping.”
