Returned home last Sunday, landed Monday after a two week stay.
We had an amazing time at GP Kantenah.
To break down our stay:ROOM
We had a non FS room, spent most of our stay in 4726, first couple of nights in 4732, moved because we wanted a king bed, not two doubles.Room was clean and well appointed. Great bath tub. We found the bed comfortable.
We had a frog in the room for the first night, discovered in the early hours , it was fine and didn’t bother us, I just placed the little guy/gal outside.A gecko/lizard managed to sneak in by dropping off the door another night, went straight under the bed, we never found them.
My wife’s phone wouldn’t charge due to the humidity in the room.
Concierge delivered a dehumidifier which solved the issue and definitely made the room drier and there was no issue with the phone after that.FOOD
I’m a mystery diner at home and so am used to being objective in judging what I’m given to eat and the service I receive.I had low expectations based on some previous reviews, but know that food is a divisive subject.
We enjoyed the food in general. Yes, sometimes it could be hotter, but there’s plenty of opportunities at the buffets for things to be cooked fresh and hot.Ate at the a la cartes most nights. The tepanyaki (3 times) and a la carte Japanese (twice) were our favourites.
Service was great wherever we ate. A smile and a few words of Spanish go a long way, these guys work really hard.
We never went hungry and enjoyed the buffets too, which normally we don’t. La Dalia was our favourite for breakfast.
Hacienda at Colonial was great for freshly made to order breakfast smoothies and perfect lunchtime crepes for dessert, so good.
ENTERTAINMENT
We had some great experiences in the lobbies, the theatre at Colonial, the beach party, Chic (amazing), Bingo at Chic twice (amazing) and many a night spent in Churchills – an amazing bar with 5 Star service from Freddie, who is a credit to the resort.DRINKS
No complaints from us here. Plenty of Tanqueray to keep us libated all day and a good choice of cocktails. Loved the margaritas at the bar in the beach which were freshly made with muddled lime and not pre-mixed.Found service quick and friendly whenever we needed hydration.BEACH & POOLS
The first few days were easy to get in and out of the ocean near to Colonial. Got more difficult with a rocky entry as time went on, but still lovely once you were in. I did injure my toe quite badly getting out of the ocean one day near the FS beach area, so take care. I understand from other posts there may be less rocks up at the TRS beach area.Saw some great fish while snorkling and a couple of sting ray too which I thought was amazing to see.
We loved the main pool at Colonial, it’s huge and easy to find a place to chill in.
The Colonial secret pool was great too. Amazing bar service and such a tranquil place to relax in.
We also used the spa facilities at Zentropia and really enjoyed them too.
Bring beach shoes and a pool hammock to sit and float on. You can buy them at the resort, but it’ll cost a lot.THE PEOPLE
Probably the most important aspect of our holiday.
We encountered great staff who took care of our every need, really great people and reception told us that over 3,000 of them work there! They make the resort. As for the fellow travellers we met, we got to meet many many amazing people from all over the world and it was great to spend good times with you, from bingo night winnings to birthday celebrations – we had amazing days and nights and loved meeting everyone we spoke with and finding out about your lives.
We all work hard for these experiences and it was so good to be able to share our time with you.
OVERALL
Would we return? – Yes, definitely. It’s a lovely resort with a lot to offer. The wildlife you see is also WOW!
An amazing trip and I would highly recommend.+76
