Sharyn Muirhead: Anne Adams, to answer your question you asked me to find out, before I went away regarding non-smoking rooms. I asked at the front desk and all the rooms at the Grand Palladium Riviera Maya are officially non-smoking rooms. It was also mentioned in the guide book (binder) in your room. There is a hefty fine if you are caught smoking in your room, although there are glass ashtrays on the balconies.
