I will add these to the list:
I loved Kabul Beauty School by Deborah Rodriguez. True story about an American hairdresser who went to war torn Afghanistan and started a beauty School.
When Deborah returned to the US she felt lost and ended up moving to Mexico. I am reading her memoir of that entitled, Margarita Wednesdays.
Another favorite book that I just found at a yard sale, “Cutting for Stone” by Abraham Verghese. Twin brothers in Ethiopia orphaned by the mother’s death (Indian nun) and father’s disappearance (British surgeon) coming of age.

Today I read My Name is Lucy Barton by Pulitzer Prize winner Elizabeth Strout.
Very quick read about mother/daughter relationships. Good but not exceptional.
I have started to re-read The Namesake by Jhumpa Lahiri. Love this book about a couple who immigrates from India to Cambridge, Mass.
Lahiri has a new book which I started reading but not as good.

I am enjoying “All Summer Long” by Dorothea Benton Frank.
She is one of my favorite “beach book” authors. Her books take place in South Carolina where I now live. She may have “coaxed” me here as I read her books before moving.
This book takes a wealthy Manhattan interior designer and her laid back professor husband to “downsizing” to Sullivans Island in South Carolina

Just finished a great book by Marie Benedict. The Only Woman in the Room. Based on a true life story of Hety Lamar, the actress and scientist.
