We arrived to an empty Las Vegas airport in masks, boarded our near empty first leg of our flight ( whole row to self for every person on plane) masks mandatory entire flight to arrive to a very quiet JFK to connect on another flight with plenty of social distancing and mandatory masks. Arriving in Cancun Mexico is doing it right… social distancing spots on ground, masks required, hand sanitizer passed out, shoes and bags sterilized. Arriving at resort, temps taken, shoes and bags sterilized again and hand sanitizer given out everywhere. Finally we rest and enjoy the view with a drink before checking in.

First night’s dinner at Sumptori…. traveled to village via boat There were only 3 couples dining at 7pm. Must go to restroom and wash hands upon arrival to restaurant, walk thru shoe sanitizer and apply hand sanitizer before being seated

 

Day 2 Happy 4th …breakfast, empty pools, 4Th of July entertainment at TRS pool

Day 3 we spent some time at the beach… very little seaweed.. more like pieces of grass not the typical sargassum. Water is warm and the beach is empty! Finished the day off with dinner at Portofino

Day 4 was spent equally between the TRS pool and beach where social distancing is not an issue. Lunch at Poseidon and we returned to Portofino for dinner but had prearranged to dine on Indian Cuisine since the Indian restaurant is currently closed. With a days notice the chef from the Indian restaurant (currently helping at the Italian ) will prepare and Indian meal for you

Day 5 spent on a day trip to Isla Mujeres with great new friends we met at the resort. Transport to ferry, hand sanitized and temps taken before boarding… masks required to board. Upon deboarding temps taken again and you must walk thru a whole body mister to sanitize. Masks required in public places on Isla. Rented gold carts, toured island and found and awesome private beach club, Zama that had the most amazing beach, pool and shrimp tacos and quac

Things are slowly changing…. no more reservations needed for breakfast and breakfast is now moving back to buffet style At Poseidon with servers serving all food. Aqua bar now open in evening with entertainment.

Evening 5 was spent dining at Helios with great new friends w/ Spanikopida, smoked salmon, coconut shrimp, octopus, filet, Tb one and sea bass and to finish dinner off… a magnificent tray of desserts

Day 6- Today we moved to the TRS side building 2, Thank you Javier with spectacular views of the ocean. Lunch at Helios was amazing with Tuna poke, seafood cerviche, Mojito salmon and an avocado surf and turf burger with shrimp

Evening 6 spent dining with new friends…. Stopped up to look at view from Sky Bar then dinner at El Gaucho

What a beautiful evening on night 7…enjoyed the views off our patio, just missed the big fogging as we walked to Le Bohemme for dinner. The resort is slowly bringing back some nightly entertainment with outdoor movies, music and dancing. The to cap it off returning to our tidy room with chocolates on the bed
