Update: tried to get pesos today. With the peso being about 19 pesos to 1 US dollar I decided to get pesos. Note you can use US dollars in MX but if you are dealing with a vendor (tour operator) or taxi you will lose out as they will not give you 19 to 1. I went to my own bank who does not provide the service. I went to both Bank of America & Wells Fargo who do provide the service but recently changed their policy for customers only. So……. I’ll bring lots of US ones for tipping and get some pesos for the excursion we are doing (cooking school) and the taxi there.
For those of you from UK or Canada get pesos.
