We flew with Westjet on Dec. 14th 2018. The flight was the usual with a slight delay. Upon arrival to Cancun we breezed through terminal 4 and were delighted to find the transfer we booked was waiting for us. VIP Riviera Maya is now my #1 choice, they are an affiliate of Canada Transfers who we have also used for years. We were loaded and off to the resort in no time.
Arrival: Check in was smooth, cool clothes and champagne awaited us as we filled in the necessary paperwork. (which wasn’t much) I started our trip by bumping my glass off of the front desk. Smash..and its echos in there. I felt terrible and was so embarrassed. Every one was so gracious, the bellman told us that it is good luck and that it means an old energy is over and a new entry is beginning. Those that know me will know that, for me it is likely a good thing. He escorted us and our luggage to our beautiful, spacious loft suite. This is by far the nicest room we have stayed in to date.
The room: The loft suites are very large, on the bottom floor as you enter the room you will find a closet to one side and a half bath on the other. There is a large wardrobe which holds a mini fridge filled with soda, water, juice, beer and snacks. A little further in you will see a table with two chairs and a bar with one stool., past that a corner couch with the large smart TV opposite it. Now the best part, on this same first level is the biggest balcony with a big round jetted tub for 2, a table with two chairs and a big round lounger, for those afternoon naps. Now for the second level. As you enter the loft area you will see a king bed , chair and another smart TV. Under neath the TV is a large shelving with a second mini fridge and lots more storage. Off of the bedroom area is a walk through closet area, this is where you will find the safe, hair dryer and steamer. Once you pass through the closet are you enter a big beautiful full bathroom with double sinks, a large jetted tub, a huge shower with a rain head and of course the loo. We LOVED our room and commented how nice it was so nice to spend time in a room that was more than just a hotel room.
The grounds: We found this resort pretty easy to walk everywhere. We never used a cart once.Be aware the paths the carts are on are narrow so pay attention that you don’t step out in front of one. They are so quiet you don’t hear them coming all of the time. Speaking of transportation the boats are both fun and effective to get you from one area to the next.
The foliage is very young and will require time to be lush and tropical feeling but thing grow quickly so it wont be too long and the flowers, palms and other plantings will all fill in. There isn’t much wild life yet but that will also come in time.
The beach here is AMAZING and is one of our favorites. The sand is soft and white, you can swim without shoes and walk as far as you want in either direction. There are beach loungers and umbrellas for shade. We never had to reserve chairs, we never do. If there are towels without belongings it is very likely that people didn’t bother to remove the towels when they left the beach. If you can bring it down to the beach, please take it back with you.
The pools, there are many pools here and you are sure to find one you like. We liked the TRS pool most days, some days we wanted a break from the music and moved on to the beach pool, there was still music but more chill at a lesser volume.
The food: Wow, I think the food here was really good everywhere ! We dined at the TRS exclusive restaurants as well as the buffet and the Grand Palladium restaurants. A couple of our stand out favorites were the sushi bar at Sumptuori , Chang Thai and the Piacere coffee shop, not to be missed ! Service was good at most places we thought Capricho and Helios were a bit slow but we are on vacation so have a drink and dont worry was how we looked at it.
We are not really evening entertainment seeking people so can’t coment on the shows too much. Chic Cabaret was very good as expected. We found the venue a bit alkward as you could only see the entertainers if you were facing them, it is smaller than I thought it would be. The show itself is very well done !
The staff at this resort are some of the kindest we have encountered. Special thanks to Alex and his partner, whose name also started with an A but eludes me, our fabulous butlers who always took great care of us. Cindy our housekeeper for a job well done. There are soo many others and next time I will take pictures so I can remember.
Would we return ? Absolutely !
If you have any questions please feel free to ask and I will do my best to answer. There is so much more but it would be a book, lol
        Until next time >>>
