        Cash & tipping.

I went to my bank today to order pesos. I have done this previously as it is easier on the staff to receive pesos for tips.  My bank quoted me a poor exchange rate and were going to charge me a $20 fee so I just took out lots of US ones & fives. Plan ahead for your currency. Someone reported today on another page I manage that the ATM fee is $30 and the resort is offering a poor exchange rate so plan ahead. Please tip.

Note: Please only tip in pesos or US and do not use any foreign coins.

          This issue comes up often.

I am slao asked which currency to use. Mexican pesos is the local currency.  It is easier for staff to have pesos as they pay most of their bills in pesos and many don’t have a bank account. If it is not possible to get pesos then US dollars are widely accepted. No foreign coins please as they cannot be used in Mexico.

            Tipping tip:

The fridge person is separate from housekeeping. If you need something in the fridge leave a note (in Spanish if possible) with $1 or $2., ie mas agua por favor, mas cerveza por forvor
