September 15, 2016 at 8:27 am in reply to: Does the Hotel Really Favor Travel Club Over All Other Guests? #6896
Responses on FB:
Robyn: would also like to say, there are some TC members that feel they are allowed to do that. I’ve seen some treat staff so badly, and they literally pushed me out of line in RM…and I had a TC bracelet too, same as them. Some people are just plain rude.
Peter Gittinger Absolutely there are rude guests that are TC and I find it so distasteful. Put the perception that TC members have that ability or somehow get preference to be seated without reservations is certainly not true.
Louise Claire Evans We experienced this all the time in RM and we are not members. Members who pushed in front were dealt with so really it’s up to the resort to tell them to wait in line or they won’t!Cape Cod Anne I have also seen this rude behavior with gold bracelet VIP guests. Got me upset at Christmas as I waited for the Christmas Eve gala dinner. I am also a gold bracelet guest and try to be polite. NO ONE is entitled to treat staff or other guests rudely.
Carolina Rdrgz Unfortunately, instances like these is why we are choosing not to return to GP for now. It’s the rudeness of guests and the lack of action by the staff that has ruined it for me. The worst part was waiting in line for the trams, only to be cut off by rude guests. We had children with us and after being cut off many times, we almost always gave up and ended up walking back to our rooms late at night.
Rodney Freeman I also have experienced this. I just excuse by telling myself that these people were raised with no manners or respect.
Cape Cod Anne : Carolina, I am sorry you feel this way as you will find rude people at most resorts. Many resorts now have some sort of club so people sometimes feel “entitled”. I have been going to the Palladium for almost 14 years and it feels like home despite the “rude” people. Staff are wonderful and we are always made to feel special
Peter Gittinger It really bothers me to hear when rude guests mistreat staff or put staff in a situation that they shouldn’t be put in. It makes for an unfair situation for the staff. Unfortunately, as Rodney alluded to, some people lack social skills and general manners. They feel entitled to treat people poorly.
Cape Cod Anne Even before the travel cub I saw people treat staff poorly. Staff are not servants people. My daughter worked at the P in Spain so I have heard many stories of staff mistreatment by guests. Treat others as you wish to be treated. Just think of working with demanding guests 12 hours a day, 6 days a week, living in a dorm away from your family and traveling most of you one day off to see your kids. Think about doing this for very little money. NO ONE is entitled to treat staff poorly.
Lynn Shallenberger
Lynn Shallenberger The staff put up with a lot of BS and always with a smile on their faces… The rudeness and “entitlement” of some guests is awful…I guess the “Golden Rule” does not apply to them…Amber Kiss I am no more important than any other person. I cant imagine being rude to other guests or even someone that works there. For me they work harder for less pay. This year I even had one of the drivers remwmbwr me from last year. He had to ask my name but remember it all week. And I ever needed a ride he would take me. When I left I gave him a big tip. He almost didnt want to take it. He earned every cent of it. And now we are facebook friends and I cant wait to see him next year.
Peter Gittinger Amber Kiss, very well said.
Peter Gittinger
Peter Gittinger I was talking with the resort manager at the bonfire tonight. I told him, “Every guest gets the same level of service. Travel Club members receive more services.” Just as Royal guests receive more services.Dan Peshkin We had yellow apple bracelets In Punta Cana. Supposedly it gave us some type of Vip status. On one occasion my wife and sister were in line for Brazilian and a man and his companion pushed right past them and the hostess just watched it and dos nothin…See More
Kelly Freadrich Let me ask the TC members, when you have a reservation, do you wait in line? Or do you give your reservation to the hostess?
Thanks to Karen
Thanks ladies. Just sobbed my way through the report! Happy memories.
Thanks for sharing this Brenda. Thinking of my Rios on our 30th wedding anniversary.I was blessed to spend our last days together at our favorite place in Paradise.

Here’s to Us by Elin Hildrebrand.
Takes place on Nantucket Island off the coast of Cape Cod. Three ex-wives and their children gather to spread the ashes of their husband, a former famous chef.
Lots of twists and turns.
Amber reports,
“Not happy about leaving to go home. But on the bright side….. I got freah churos right out of the fryer and rolled in cinnamon and sugar for me. Breakfast of champions.
And I ate at El Dorado last night and had the turkey Kababs and they were delicious.”

Gorgeous day after an evening of thunder showers

A “must read”. Amazing article.
Hooray it’s Friday!!
Kern has had a busy summer boating ad enjoying beautiful Cape Cod. She and her husband are heading to Bermuda before back to school. We hope she’ll squeeze in a trip report!!!
Can you say spoiled & pampered. Having too much fun at the Travel Cub.
Tonght at 10:30 @ salt water pol.
Dona says, “Honestly? We are loving a lot of things – the kids mini club, the travel club staff, the salt water pool, all the things to do onsite; but we are missing the size of Riviera Maya, the size of their suites, the variety of restaurants and the service at meals. It’s almost a 50/50 split between the two right now. Think next trip will be Punta Cana to see another huge resort and compare that.”
Philip reports: “Special Birthday celebration for Gen’s birthday. The staff at the Mexican restaurant were fantastic and went the extra mile. Special starter, bubbly, decorations and cake. Food is delicious too. Palladium Palace Ibiza”
I am enjoying “All Summer Long” by Dorothea Benton Frank.
She is one of my favorite “beach book” authors. Her books take place in South Carolina where I now live. She may have “coaxed” me here as I read her books before moving.
This book takes a wealthy Manhattan interior designer and her laid back professor husband to “downsizing” to Sullivans Island in South Carolina
I received my refund after many phone calls and getting my bank involved. Perseverance worked.
“If it sounds too good to be true it usually is”. Learned that lesson!
Jason: Update on the situation still hostage to the sun, sand, breeze and good drinks!
This is the water park and surrounding area here at the resort. Lucy had a blast this morning. She is now at the mini club while Kim and I go relax and have spa treatments (including a surprise for Kim’s birthday). I’m not posting pics of this as I’m unplugging for the afternoon – ahhhh!
Good morning from GP Vallarta – big storm last night so surfs up this morning! 8 am and the die hard surfers are already out 🙂
TGIF!!
Courtesy of Cindy – we got spoiled at the Travel Club members area here in PV – boy oh boy what a way to celebrate birthdays! Oh and everyone says – hi Peter Gittinger 😉 they miss you! — drinking cocktails at Grand Palladium Vallarta Resort & Spa.
A “must do” if you have kids!

Brenda
Have a great trip Donna. I would bring bug spray, dusk seemed to be the worst. Those pesky little biters can be a pain !
Lisa says: The airport in PV is a breeze. Just keep walking when you get through customs and the sharks won’t “bite” HA HA. The resort it not big so it won’t take time to get accustom to it. Please feel free to look at my pics. I have been 4 times and enjoyed every second. The resort is a way from being in PV – and it is certainly worth a day trip in there to explore – beautiful place. As well you can visit Bucerias (my favourite) or Sayulita. ENJOY
Bring one dollar notes to tip the excellent staff 🙂
Donna Wassing
Donna Wassing Thanks for the reminder – I need to get more 1s – I have 5s and 10’s but I need more than the 10 $1US bills I managed to squeeze out of my bank lollNiall Kenny

Marianne Collier Moreau
Marianne Collier Moreau water shoes…I stepped on an urchin the first day, and spent the next 4 in agony…with a room on the 3rd floor, so many stairs at that resort.Donna Wassing
Donna Wassing Ah yes thanks! Those will be in the bag for sure!If you like Clamato juice, maybe ask the flight attendant if you can get some to take with you. The stuff at the resort is no bueno ☹️
Cape Cod Anne
Cape Cod Anne Have a wonderful trip! I understand your ambivalence about trying a “new resort”. Are you in the Royal Suites or the other side?Carolyn Treney
Carolyn Treney We were just there a month ago and didn’t need bug spray at all. We always bring our travel coffee mugs and have our drinks made in them – they stay cold longer and less refills (unless you are staying on the Royal side and then Marisol never lets your drink go empty), sunset at the Mexican restaurant was beautiful, ribs and more was great food but make an early reservation or they might run out of filetCape Cod Anne
Cape Cod Anne Daughter loved the guacamole there!Update today. I heard from another forum that Dynamic cancelled all flights to/from Punta Cana & Mexico. Checked Dynamic and they still had my flights as scheduled ( even though they canceled all flights) Called Expedia and they were showing my flights as scheduled. I suggested they call Dynamic; that all flights are cancelled. Long story short they finally agreed to a refund in “8 weeks”. I filed a complaint with DOT as the refund should be issued in 10 days.
Storm should move out by tomorrow. Here’s a rainy day schedule

“The staff here are wonderful! Very friendly and always ready to help with any little thing. Even if you don’t appraoch them, they approach you to ask if everything is okay.
I’ve only been to RM so compared to that, Jamaica is a lot smaller and more manageable to get to know your surroundings. I love both resorts though.”
Awesome report Alina .I knew you would love Jamaica. Great comment about the music.
Anyone going? Please post a pic!

63 days!! Earth, water, air, and fire are the four pre-scientific elements of early philosophies. Fire: The sun is the source of energy for the Earth. It provides warmth and enjoyment for beach goers. But at Grand Palladium Jamaica, the sun is a source of electricity. Grand Palladium Jamaica has the largest solar energy plant on the island. This demonstrates Palladium Hotel Group’s committment to the environment.

Sitting here sobbing. I had read that book before but well worth re-reading. It is written by a dog but has so many messages of perseverance, hope, faith. Definitely worth reading or re-reading.
Today..Breakfast with Raggs
Lovely picture of doughtier Siena & Punta Emilia
When are your frieda going? If I can help let me know The White Sand will be doing renovations beginning in August by block. Maybe we can get them into a new room? (Can always try)
We appreciate all referrals. We’ve been around since 2003 and know we have some oldies here but also welcome all newbies.
From Amara

Amar reports: “Having a wonderful trip. The weather is hot, hot and hot and I love it. Had several delicious meals in La Adelita, Brazilian and El Dorado with excellent service. Our one bedroom suite is a great set up for a family of three. The bathroom in the middle is ideal. The sofa bed is extremely comfortable for sleeping. The room decor is nice despite not being remodeled. Love having two separate balconies. A little construction noise when I was at Kantenah beach bar, but not bad. You probably would not hear noise in the room. The resort seems to be fairly full.”
One hatched! Gracias Cherri!
Aw….thanks Pat. You will surely be rewarded! (Once you get to trip # 8 you can get a gold bracelet.)
Many of us love the Palladium and feel it is our 2nd home. It has become so popular that it is full even at times (like now) when it would not normally be full.
Please refer your friends to FAQs We are happy to help!

Thanks to Karen for mentioning The Art of Racing in the Rain by Garth Stein.
I am re-reading this and enjoying it. Ostensibly written by a dog named Enzo.
Yes you usually can use a credit card
Have a fabulous trip!!! Check in if you get a minute for those of us who live vicariously..
Thanks for the response Boatchick. I read about that “rolled towel” incident. Very sad. I believe in “The Golden Rule”…ie I treat people as I wish to be treated”.
If anyone has anything to add please feel free to post.
Another beautiful day in Paradise!
