If possible, it would be nicer to move the monkeys to a wilderness area if there is any wilderness left in the Riviera Maya. It is too bad, but I understand why the resort is doing this. I was walking along the canopied walkways a couple of weeks ago and saw a spider monkey swinging from the top of the canopy. It then jumped on a guest, then chased the guest. Animals will only get aggressive like that if people feed them.
January 6, 2024 at 12:17 am in reply to: Big Problems with Booking a la Carte Restaurants at GP Riviera Maya #30772The problems are not with the Family Select thing. It is everywhere else: White Sand and Colonial and the parts of Kantenah that are not FS. Seems the staff was siphoned off of the main resorts to service this new FS. People in all other parts of the resort are having trouble with everything like even getting beach towels. Some are given face cloths instead of bath towels in their room. No toilet paper and, of course, the nightmare around booking the a la carte restaurants that are sitting mainly empty due to staff shortages. I will be a returning customer later this month and was expecting the same experience as I had other times. I really don’t want to admit this, but I am regretting my decision and I can’t cancel now. I feel really bad about convincing friends to book here. Hoping things are better by the time we get there, but not sure about that.
January 5, 2024 at 9:27 pm in reply to: Big Problems with Booking a la Carte Restaurants at GP Riviera Maya #30770Thanks. Really do hope this gets fixed. People really do look forward to their vacations and don’t want them ruined. Must say I am a bit confused about saying the GP Riviera Maya is a “new hotel”. I first visited this resort 11 years ago and while there have been some changes over the years, it is still the same resort to my knowledge. I mean Family Select is new but that has nothing to do with the rest of the resort where people are facing problems booking the a la carte restaurants.
Someone earlier had said there was a tiki bar in that area for everyone, but not sure that is still good information.
I see. So given that Kantenah is the only part of the beach that is not rocky and iffy, is there somewhere else nearby where everyone else can get drinks?
Just a quick clarification: You had previously posted that everyone (adults) can access La Jarra, but here, it implies there are some restrictions. Not sure what TC means?
Really? Aside from Portofino do you know which ones do?
Thanks
You mean those from White Sand and Colonial as well?
That is really sad news. When we came here before, I recall that lunch at Poseidon was very special. It was one of the reasons we decided to return to GP Riviera Maya. It seems all my fav spots are either closed or turned into something else which is too bad.
I will say that the paucity of outdoor dining choices is definitely the downside of the resort. Was wondering if El Gran Azul is still open for dinner. I am guessing that likely it is not.
great! Are there outdoor tables at The Nest?
So can anyone go there now until it becomes part of Family Select?
Trying to figure out where this stage is located. Is it beside the main pool in the Colonial area?
So where on the resort are the tequila tastings?
Do you have any more details on the Piacere Coffee shop. When will it open? Will it have just coffees or will it also include coffee drinks like Monte Cristo? As well, will there be snacks like cookies and muffins and such like Starbucks?
As well do you know the opening hours for Las Olas beach restaurant? Thanks for all your help:)
Thanks. Great. Do you know what the opening hours are
Another question. Do you need reservations for this?
I think I recall a nice small beach restaurant in White Sand area where you could get pineapple hamburgers and what not. I think this is the Poseidon. Anyway is this now the only items on the menu. And is it an upcharge. I thought I saw prices on it.
I understand that Buildings 41 to 47 in Kantenach are not FS. Can people who books those rooms still have access to the pool and beach at FS or do they need to walk to Colonial or White Sands.
So the $25. upcharge is because…. is there a show or something. Funny question, but who is doing the dancing. Are we watching dancers or are customers dancing? And is it still Spanish themed? Bravo is what we say in french Canada, so is it French?
