Congratulations on your wedding. I hope all goes smoothly.
Sorry for all the little things which do add up. I think they should have offered to move you. If it’s not too late maybe that’s an option.

PCM reports:
“The sun is shining and a great day overall.
I just spent the morning driving to all key areas that would effect any tourist…and beyond. Aside from some remaining water on the roads in Cortecito-Las Corales in front of Now Larimar, Sunscape and Little Haiti, all roads are dry and perfect!
There was NO MAJOR FLOOD DAMAGE….inconveniences yesterday?? Yes.
I was on the beach at Macao….aside from some puddles which always seem to be there…all is fine. There are some restaurants that due to poor planning (building IN the mangrove swamp) are flooded…but that is supposed to be water anyways! LOL Bales is fine and open for business this morning.
I drove up to Uvero Alto and again…no issues. A bit of standing water in some fields, but some of what you would see is because of the new road construction blocking the natural drainage.
I went to the beach beside Breathless and indeed there was some beach erosion (ruts). Most was to the area directly in front of the main courtyard and once again, due to poor drainage planning more than anything. The loader was on the beach getting all in order and I imagine by now, he is done and the beach looks like it did last week!
So…for those concerned…not lasting damages. Some residual water hanging in very low lying areas.
To make a point as well. Although yesterday’s rain was VERY INTENSE at times, we have seen more accumulation in a 24 hour period. Becuase we have been so dry, the ground was able to absorb a good amount of the rain yesterday…with the exception of those few late morning-early afternoon hours when the intensity was like a snowstorm.
I know there will be a never ending continuation of questions and concerns, but hey….all is fine. Lets get back to countdowns and Bubba Mugs.
Cheers from here…

Gracias Blueskies.
Note the resort is dependent on an outside vendor for its channels. One or more may not be available occasionally. Please be patient!
I am sorry that you’re disappointed. Often times there are blips.I always go with the attitude of not letting the small stuff bother me.
This site is the result of many years of work and contributions by many people. All of the information is accurate. As the resort makes changes often if we are not certain of something we double check with management.
To address some of your issues:
They try to reward repeat guests but there are no guarantees. Any room upgrade for any guest is based on availability.
You should talk to your wedding planner about any perks for the bride & groom.(Congratulations!)
There is shuttle service for Royal guests. If they are not waiting at the lobby door just wait or ask someone to call them for you if you are elsewhere.
If your App is not working go to the front desk and ask them to help you.
Also report the smoke smell to front desk. They may be able to move you.
I hope your experience improves.
Summer,
Have a wonderful trip. How special to be sharing your husband’s memory in Paradise with his best friend! We’ll be thinking of you.
PCM reports that airport has re-opened.
“Ok…just drove the loop so have an idea of conditions.
South region…(Cap Cana, Punta Cana, Cabeza del Toro)…rain, but not that heavy and little to no flooding.
Bavaro…(Barcelo to Occidental)…heavier rains and the roads are flooded….moreso due to bad design and they forgot to put dranage in! Slow going for all on the roads in Bavaro.
Friusa and north to Uvero Alto…heavy rains and fields are flooded. The main road is fine all the way. This is the area that has the most standing water.
Cheers

Hi Dianne,
The kayaks and other water toys such as the paddle boats can be checked out at the Dive Center. You do need to leave your room key and show some ID. I would use a copy of my passport. (Let us know if this works but it doesn’t seem reasonable that they would expect guests to carry passports.)
Regarding flip fops, I saw this question asked on another site. The management answered that sandals are allowed. That said, I believe I saw flip flops worn in PC. Dress code was very relaxed there.
I don’t think they allow adults to stay in the kids club. They will give the parent a beeper so they can easily contact you if there’s a problem.
When are you going?

The last time we went to Playa there was a colectivo waiting outside of the Colonial gate. We sat on it for about 15 mins. waiting for it to fill up. If you’d rather not wait walk to the right where there is a palapa stand where the colectivos stop. They go north on the same side of the highway as the hotel. To go south use the employee tunnel to the right of the Colonial lobby. (Follow employees to find it) You can safely cross the highway using the tunnel and then catch a colectivo on the highway. They do take pesos and US (no coins).

Welcome!
I agree with Brenda. My daughter and I prefer Riviera Maya. She missed the 24 hour beach bas when we went to Punta Cana. She missed the late night snacks and get togethers at the beach bars. I missed the great coffees at sunrise.Food is better in MX IMHO. Lots to do for the teens in both places..

The food was great! They do tableside guacamole that is to die for! The service was a little on the slow side, but we had an amazing view and margaritas, so that wasn’t too big of a deal!

“Had a great steak tonight at el Dorado, I think that is our favourite restaurant. Thanks to Santos and Armando, they are fast, efficient, and very friendly. We always ask for their section if we can.
Finished off with a palladium coffee at Hemmingways and a beer. Luis makes the best drinks.
We are down to two days now.”Jackie, Enjoy your last 2 days! Anne

Agree we loved Punta Can Mikes Mayan Adventure. Awesome day. He is so knowledgeable and a Canadian if that matters.
“Just watched the Humanities show again, absolutely amazing. Love the acrobatics, and the rope work. Well done dancers!
Had my gin and tonic tonight at Hemmingways, thank you Luis.”Tonight by reservation
Amazing what people complain about.
My daughter has stayed a the Royal in Punta de Mita. Gives an edge to RSY. We went to Royal Suites Turquesa (Punta Cana) over Christmas and although we enjoyed it we were both missing the Riviera Maya. The RST is very nice; gorgeous beach. Great food at 2 gourmet restaurants. We tried one a la carte which was good but felt the Royal restaurants were a step up.
Jamaica does not have a Royal area but has some lovely rooms that are AO with ocean views. Enjoyed Jamaica but we missed RM
I have no complaints about RST just prefer RM.
I checked with the resort and was told they do have them in El Jardin not Punta Emilia.
I myself cannot wait for the new Royal Suites Yucatan and Mujeres. My daughter and I are both well-traveled. We went to Royal Suites Turquesa over Christmas. We have also been to Jamaica & my daughter stayed at Royal Suites Punta de Mita & 2 hotels in Ibiza. Our hearts belong to Mexico first.
Thanks Scott for sharing. If you have a pic please post.
Awesome report!
I too have a problem deciding between Kantenah Mayan Suite & Royal. Usually if I travel alone I stay in Kantenah. If I travel with my adult daughter I stay in Royal.
So does Punta Emilia have the coconut shrimp?

Really enjoyed it.”Hola Louise, Looks like you are relaxing in a gorgeous place! Thanks for sharing!
Can’t wait!
Jackie says, “Last night at Hemmingways there was the Gin and tonic bar all set up, so every Tuesday night, it was great. Daniel and Ernesto were were doing a good job. Lots of people coming in for a look.”
Anne: We are your support group!!! Come to us for therapy anytime!! Are you bringing kids? Happy for you!!!
Vivian Backmann I am 🙂 my two middle daughters are on spring break when we go. One was just there with me 3 weeks ago haha. I am literally at the resort more than I am my cabin that is 2 hours from my house ?
Anne Adams I remember you were in that gorgeous Ambassador Suite. Lucky girls.
Peter Gittinger Vivian, that’s not a problem. You are embracing your passion. Keep up the good work!Joan Dervin Lucky you! Can’t wait to go back for our 12th trip!
Vivian Backmann I literally have lost count ? I think at a certain point I’m secretly embarrassed at how times I’ve been there
Jackie Lynn I think we are all addicted to paradise. Love it here.Jackie Lynn Vivian that is so funny, I feel just the same when people see our gold band they ask how many times we have been, I now say I have lost count.?
Anne Adams Yup I lost count a long time ago.
Rhonda Kasowski I heard that this incurable illness and the only way to curb it is to go multiple times a year.
Vivian Backmann Its true! But then when you get back it kicks in again. Yep… the struggle is real :
Brenda Wegert Hi Vivian my name is Brenda. I was clean for 15 days before I fell of the wagon and booked our next trip. We returned on the 12 and I booked yesterday. Only 249 days left…I hope you have a fantasitc time !Vivian Backmann OMG Brenda you make me giggle. I was literally back for 3 weeks and booked for 2 weeks from now. I don’t have any “addictions” in life but I am certain this could be classified as one at this point. I see pictures of my favorite place and I literally can’t not participate. 🙂
Anne Adams I know the feeling so well. LOL
Great steak at el Dorado. Rosa and Maria were wearing their new outfits tonight serving in Colonial lobby, they looked very smart.
Wow.It’s all very modern. I kind of like un updated tropical look but I’m sure it will be lovely.
