AbBy loves the freshly made Mexican food at PE at lunch.
In Kabah & Hacienda the chef prepares fresh tacos and other things near the grill at lunchtime.
Live from Maui: “We are enjoying our suite & its amenities but have not cooked. There are lots of great restaurants so we are enjoying our meals out. We had extreme winds for 2 days but lovely today even though the locals still feel it is too cold. We went to the Maui Ocean Centre yesterday, it was excellent. We snorkelled today, saw several kinds of fish. “

I saw them making them at the buffet (Hacienda or Kabah). Has Ken tried the fried fish (filet or whole fish) at Punta Emilia at lunch? If you go into Akumal we had good fish tacos at la Cueva del Pescador.
When are you going? Yo can send a building/floor request a week or less before arrival. Let us know if you need additinal help.
They took the sign down, raised the prices and now have a “sheet” they keep at the desk. If you want to use taxis suggest you walk across the highway (via tunnel) and negotiate.
Live from Maui:Another beautiful day here in the South Pacific. The VOG seems to have blown away and we can see the island. Of Lanai clearly.
Biked again to get bkfast and spent a great day at the hotel beach. There is a lot of coral so water shoes are a must. Tomorrow we will swim out to the reef and snorkel. It is shallow so no worries about LJC and the water.Lots of kayaking and water boarding right in front with rentals next door. We will go kayaking this week sometime.Had a wonderful dinner of Ono ( local white fish) with excellent sides at Captain Jack’s near Cool Cats. Maybe the best fish ever! Picked up some groceries at Foodland and walked the 25 minutes to the hotel. We’re not cooking, just snacks & wine etc. Easy lunches otherwise dine out.…We really like this hotel even though it is pretty basic….it has all that we want. The clientele. Is generally older so not much noise other than the occasional creaking joint (not the smoking kind). The setup reminds us of our old strata lot days at FAR………good memories..Our room has free WiFi and the kitchen is uber well equipped. Thank heavens we have air conditioning as it is hot and humid even at night.Hello Vacation time and welome. A guest who has been there 2-3 times may get an upgrade if available, may get a fruit basket. There are no guarantees on an upgrade.
A guest who has been there 4+ times may get the above in addition to 3 a la carte reservations if they choose.
Guests who have been 8 or more times (RM), 10 or more times (PC) may get a gold bracelet which entitles them to unlimited a la carte reservations and access to El Jardin. They also have the spa fee waived. Gold bracelets are at managment’s discretion.
None of these are cast in stone and there may be additional amenities such as flowers, champagne,etc for an anniversary or other special occasion. Guests may also order special amenities for a cost
I have great respect for the Palladium staff. Ricardo must have an extremely hard job keeping us all “entertained”.
My daughter worked for Palladium in Ibiza for 2 Summers. She worked the front desk at both Palladium Palace and Ushuai and worked in the Fiesta wedding maketing dept. She did not do this for the money as it cost (me) money for her to work there based on flights,etc. She did it for the experience. She made some life long friends. She had experiences with clients that sometimes made her cry (and call her mother). She had other experiences that she will never forget (like when Spain won the world cup). She had to work til midnight and then go back at 8am. She said, “Mom working here is not the same as vacationing here. I did not sleep all night with all the people partying.”
I think being a “POP” person must be hard; “playing’ all day, smiling all day and barely stopping.
Doglover posed, “Sorry this is all that I have. We got so excited about the set up that we forgot to take pics when it was up and running. They had chicken skewers, beef skewers, hot dogs, hamburgers and grilled veggies. I understand they plan on changing up the menu as well.
When we go back next month, I promise to take pics. Unless someone else posts them before we go.
Live from Maui: We are in Lahaina on the south side of Maui. It is about 20 miles from the airport in Kahului. The beach is shallow in front of our hotel with a reef not too far out so we can snorkel here. We have a 5 minute walk to the centre of town, the shops on one side are waterfront. At Bubba Gump’s last night, our table was by an open window with the water right below us & we could see & hear the waves. My shrimp was delicious, Ks seafood tacos also very good. Our studio suite has 2 cruiser bikes, nothing mechanical about them so will need to adjust since our mt bikes have gears & brakes. Ha! Our suite has everything we need but we do not plan on cooking except maybe lunches.
The evening show schedules and special daily activites are posted in the 2 theaters and posted daily on the bulletin boards outside of the main buffets
Jason, Have your daughter get involved with the kids club when they do eco tours, get the kids involved in the evening entertainment There are some shows in the Colonial theater that actually include the kids and therefore very kid friendly.I would talk to the kids club staff and get their direction.
The shows in the Riviera theater are later and probably more PG rated. There are 2 Pirate shows. They both get very good reviews.Regarding meals, your daughter would probably enjoy the Japanese show table (requires reservation), the beach BBQ (requires reservation), the Brazilian. All ages enjoy the foam party. There are also some pool games at the Colonial pool that would be appropriate for an 11 yr old.
Susan, All I remember is that every Saturday night I have been there I wander over to the Riviera terrace (outside) and they have a mariachi band and some other Fiesta themed things going on. Not sure of the time.Probably 9-ish (before the show) I’ll see if I can find some pics.
I always wanted to do the kitchen tour. I think it’s at 11:30 on Weds. Closed toe shoes and long pants required. When I tried to go there was a 5 person minimum and it was cancelled as 5 people didn’t show. Not sure if that’s still the case.
People were having a great time at the foam party. They had live music on the beach and give out drinks in coconuts. Had to wait in line for those but great for photo ops

Room 12 had an upstairs /mezzanine floor which was the bedroom, so you have to come down to go to loo. pain in the night! Block 97 is close to reception, relax pool and buffet. Very handy for the older person. (for 97 see site map ) Yes we had rain, mostly at night, The food in the buffet had enough variety to satisfy everyone, A la Carte’s you can book from 5.30pm at them. Sports bar is at the far end of resort, resulting in a “train” trip, beware! It has NO toilet facilities! ! Nearest 2 buildings away. All in all, we enjoyed our stay, one or two niggles that could be addressed by the management would certainly make it a more pleasant experience, namely, less noise at relax pool (loud mouthed Canadians drunk? at pool bar ) Would I go back? Maybe!”
For those with kids be sure and book the Breakfast with Raggs at 9 am onWed or teen dinner at 7 pm on Wed.

I heard from Segway Tours today that yes they do have tours on Easter and you can book on line if you wish. I’ll check with the resort to see if they have an Easter Mass schedule yet.
As they will have thousands of guests that week(though never feels crowded) I would assume they will have the tours that day.Not everyone celebrates Easter. Once I have the Mass schedule I’ll post.

They have Mass on Easter Sunday and during Easter week (Good Friday,etc). Times can change based on the priest’s schedule.They usually let us know when it gets closer to the date. I was there at Christmas and Mass was at 11 am.
Yes, I realize that long trousers must be uncomfortable for the men but I did see some “stretching the limits” in December as well as some ladies in inappropriate attire. Must be awkward for the staff to enforce but in the case of no shirt, no shoes that is understandable.

Now that we are thinking of going to Punta Cana I have this dilemma.It would be nice if there were accomodations for multi generational accommodations , ie mother daughter situations.
Some people would like the white house wine upgraded.
Oh did you work out the ticker? I can’t get excited untl Expdia confirms Flights were very good price so we will see. If it works out we’ll be there for Christmas.

I agree with you. I have sat through many connecting flight nihtmares. Does Jet Blue fly out of there? My daughter and I both have gotten some decent flights through JB although I can’t get direct from where I live.

I was there once in April when the mornings and evenings were quite cool. It didn’t impact my enjoyment of the trip in any way. I have been to Jamaica and enjoyed that. You know you’re at a P but environment is very different. I’d choose Lady Hamilton if you decide to go to Jamaica. Some beautiful views there.
Joan reports:Half way through our vacation. The weather has co-operated! Our friends arrived yesterday.
We ate at Portofino on Saturday night. As usual, we ordered the Arrabiata sauce for pasta, as always nice and spicy. As it should be. We were quite disappointed that it really lacked heat and was actually bland.
Last night it was El Dorado, and everyone enjoyed their filets. Of course we are enjoying our cocktails and wine. Tonight we are meeting our daughters at the Brazilian. The girls, what little we have seen of them seem to be enjoying themselves. No sunburns yet!
I ran into Anameli yesterday in Tikal. So good to see her, she always has taken such. good care of us. I have not seen Landy at the Gran Azul, but maybe just miss her as I am passing.
As usual, the staff cannot do enough for the guests. Everyone is having a fine time!
More later.Daughter arrived! Ciearra Arrived at 9ish last evening. It didn’t take her and her friend long to change and head to the disco!
