AWWW… Awesome report…Thanks for allowing me to visit with you “Vicariously”
Awesome Trip report from Mylon… Thank you for allowing it to be shared…
Enjoy, this special time with your daughter…. Time to relax and reconnect, and share some memories of past trips…. and make some new memories..
IT’s the MOST Wonderful Time of the Year!!! Turtle Nesting Season!! And the Palladium has come along way since the early 20oo’s in helping to preserve/protect the turtles, who return to this beach area every year to make their nests and lay their eggs… Kudos to the Palladium for their sincere commitment to the environment!
Awe… I am getting so ‘Homesick’… great report… Your description of the TRS Yucatan is going to make it hard for me to leave my favorite Kantenah Mayan Suites…Sounds like relaxing fun visit…
Great TR… Wow all the changes and new restaurants… Looks like our next visit, I will be feeling like I did in 2004, our first visit…LOl…
It is always comforting and pleasant when you reunite with staff that have been there since the opening days… that says a lot about a resort and how they treat their staff.
I can just imagine how excited Alberto is with the upcoming birth of his son!It seems our GP family is growing with the birth of Fernie’s daughter and a son on the way for Alberto.
Glad you had a wonderful time reconnecting with your daughter…
Hoping when our life settles down, we will be returning “home” too.
Thanks for filling us in on all the New and exciting changes.
Sounds like another amazing visit “Home”… Thank you for allowing me to,”Live Vicariously” through your posts… Happy New Year … Safe travels and maybe we can have coffee/tea one morning on the Playa…
Oh this looks so tempting…an exciting option that is closer to the Cancun airport, but it will be a hard decision to try this new resort, as I feel so at home at the GP in Riviera Maya and have become friends with so many of the long time staff.
Hi Rosy, can’t wait to meet you when we make a return visit…Thank you for making yourself available for questions and information..
This is So exciting… what a great year for the turtles… Thank you to the hard working staff of the Palladium Campamento Tortuguero…
Thanks Brenda for posting the article… Love Turtle Season…!
The Campamento Tortuguero staff does a wonderful job during “turtle season”…I am so happy the Palladium took this step many years ago to help preserve and design a safe place to transfer turtle nests/eggs, so that these endangered sea creatures have a better chance of survival… The most amazing sight is to see the nest start to “bubble” and then the baby turtles emerge. The staff will collect, and inspect each hatchling and put the information into a log book. The turtles are released at night, please no white lights from cameras or phones, as Anne said ,please bring a turtle safe flashlight, which can be purchased in the US from turtlesafeonline.com. the new updated version are rechargeable. And please be respectful of the staff, some speak English and some do not… If you see turtles hatching during the day, please do not try to get them out through the netting, just notify a security guard or life guard and they will contact the staff who will transfer them to a container, so they can be safely released under the cover of darkness…I saw one girl, rip a hole in the netting because she thought the turtles were in danger. I tried to get her to stop but, she did not under stand English including STOP… I had to run to get a security guard stationed in the hut by Bar La Jarra.
I’ve already gained 5# reading this…Yum….Sounds amazing
Merry Christmas Felipe…May the New Year bring much love and many blessings to your and your family…..

Jamaican me crazy to plan a trip…
As Americans, it is customary to tip… and I don’t have a problem rewarding hard working people who provide exceptional service…Anne I feel your description of tipping is fair and spot on…Yes I know the policy of “tips included in the all-inclusive” description and in some countries tipping is “unheard of”… But I think it is a nice gesture for people who go out of their way to make your stay the best it can be… Yes as a Bartender and waitress in my “younger days”, I understand the rigors of this type of job, and have “walked a mile in their shoes”…..and the long hours these staff people put in to make our stay memorable… With that said… A tip is a nice and appreciated gesture, but is totally up to the discretion of the guest.
I know of a guest who refused to take a towel from the towel attendant because he did not roll it, but handed it to the guest folded, after the guest waved his “gold” band in the face of the attendant, he received a “rolled towel”. I felt so sad for the attendant, being humiliated in this way… BTW the guest walked away and unrolled the towel and put it over his shoulders… ;-)… What a “Touron”…
March 28, 2016 at 8:34 pm in reply to: How many times have you visited a Grand Palladium Resort ? #4626Kern, a long overdue trip…I know you and Ken will have a great time…Quite a few “improvements” since your last trip…Can’t wait to hear your thoughts…Enjoy..
March 28, 2016 at 8:31 pm in reply to: How many times have you visited a Grand Palladium Resort ? #462510 times…Mexico is and has been our favorite and it’s always great to see the staff members, who have become friends over our numerous visits… It definitely is like “returning home”. We loved Punta Cana when we visited in 2010… The Bavarro Beach is gorgeous and walking to the sea side town of El Corticito is fun…The staff were amazing… For our 11th trip, hopefully soon to be planned, I hear Jamaica calling…The Adult suites in the Lady Hamilton section, that jut out into the sea are mostly likely what we will book as they are similar to the Mayan Suites and Romance suites….Our first visit was in 2004 and we were extremely impressed and it only consisted of the Colonial and Kantenah sections… It’s been amazing to see how the resort has expanded, but was designed to integrate the buildings to blend in with the environment…I like that the Palladium Hotel Group has a strong commitment to the natural environment… I wish other Resort Groups shared this same vision…
Looks like the Palladium Family is growing… Great TR.
Happy Birthday dear friend…Seems you are enjoying the newly renovated Colonial Bar… Awesome Bartender that you are!
Great information…Thanks for sharing…
Just wondering what is actually behind this “mass media” hysteria… 🙁 …
Umm No problemo, I think… trying to get used to sharing and linking articles… 😉
Happy Birthday Vicarious Friend..been talking with you for almost 8 years…but we’ve never met for cappies and tea….until we meet in person…
Thanks Brenda…Boy do you have confidence in me…Only took 3 tries to learn how to find the pic. url LMAO
Yes Playa is always and adventure…we found it best to turn our bracelets in a way that they couldn’t be read by the shop keepers.. “ah Palladium..I was your bartender, waiter…etc last night”.
I too like Playa Mart and have always gotten the best price on my vanilla there… I did find a small shop owned by a co-operative of local artisians…They had some lovely handmade jewelry out of wood and other natural materials as well as decorative pieces for the home… I got a small “jelly fish” lamp made from a small gourd and shells of nuts.. It has geckos carved into it…This co-operative teaches their students how to create different types of art, both wearable and decorative and pays them a “fair wage” …I can’t remember the name of the shop, but it is directly across from the Haagen-Daas ice cream store..where btw my hubby spent 12.00 US on 3 scoops of icecream..2 for him and 1 scoop of sorbet for me…still LMAO..
The collectivos have gotten better and the ones we took …the air conditoning was working properly…I did get the “special box” seat on the way to Akumal…but that is a short trip…
BTW the bus station in Playa, does have public restrooms, they cost about 5 pesos (50cent US) and are pretty clean…
Also the exchange rate is quite good in Playa…(better than the hotels or airport) Just compare the exchange rate at a few of the kiosks..some times, there are 2-3 per block.
Always keep a copy of your passport with you for identification… it is better to keep your actual passport in your safe…Oh Kern…Anne and I keep missing each other…just can’t seem to get our ‘dates’ to coincide…
One of these days it will finally happen and I’m sure it will be an”epic” event… ;-)…
We would have loved to have been there for Christmas…but we still have family gatherings with our parents… that’s why we went earlier to celebrate both our birthdays while there… One of these days….
Sounds like an amazing, Albeit short and sweet reunion with your daughter… Lovely way to celebrate her birthday and Christmas. A good way to catch up and reconnect.
The Christmas buffets looked amazing…Some of the desserts looked too cute to eat… 😉
Glad you brought up the open concept bathroom in the Royal Suites…I’m the early riser and Hubby is not….Don’t know if this set up would be good for us… That’s why I love the Mayan suites, enclosed toilet area,in a separate bathroom with shower and tub , (that I never use… because I Love the outdoor Mayan showers… though I would love the outdoor jacuzzi…
BTW when we were there in early Dec., I know they relaxed the dress code for men in the ala cartes… but some of the people who came in to El Jardin, looked like they’ve been sleeping on the beach in their clothes… Umm even hubby commented on some of the attire…Just wondering if you came across this too…? It’s such a very pretty restaurant and long pants and a nice shirt isn’t asking much, & even some of the ladies were “very casually” dressed … you can do so much with a cute little sundress, really shorts and a tank top in El Jardin???
We all had an amazing meal @ Ribs n More… I just loved the way they prepared the lamb chops…and the everyone raved about the steaks…
Loved your pictures… Even though it’s only been a month since our visit…it feels like “light years”… Thanks for the chance to “Live Vicariously”…again
Time passes too quickly while visiting your Home Away from Home…Sounds like you had a wonderful time to reconnect with Abbey…She has grown up and blossomed into a fine young woman…Rios would be so proud… Your family has had some special times vacationing at the “P” in it’s early years…those special memories will never fade away…only get sweeter…hoping for many more memories to be made in both yours and Abbey’s future…
Thanks for the reviews on the updates… anxious myself to see all the changes in the Buffets and ala cartes…Enjoyed your report… “Home” in just a few more sleeps…
Ok I finally got it figured out…Phew… Nice look …going to take some getting used to the new site… Best Wishes on the Bigger and Better things to come….
