Hola! So wonderful that you’ll be able to meet the Lokes at TRS! Looking forward to your photos and updates. Safe travels.
Buenos dias! Got in last night around 10:00. Had a wonderful week at the Grand Palladium Kantenah! Stayed in a Junior Suite on the top floor of Villa 49, and it was nice being close to our favorite end of the beach. Received the gold bracelets, as it was our 11th Palladium visit. Enjoyed breakfast on most mornings at El Jardin. It was so pleasant eating outdoors. Enjoyed the beauty of the Palladium, and the kindness of the people. Will work on a trip report. Meanwhile, I’ve gotta unpack (never fun!). Looking forward to returning. When is the new Palladium on Playa Mujeres expected to be completed? 2018?
Buenos dias! Been up since 4:00! Too much running through my mind and must finish packing. First though, one more day at work. Let the vacation begin! Wish you could all come along!
Thanks, Anne & Blueskies! We wish you were all joining us, too!! Would be so much fun! Will definitely let you know how things go. We’re sure we’ll have a fantastic time! Still putting the finishing touches on my packing. Gotta jam in the sun block, cosmetics, etc. Somehow they’ll all fit in!!!!
Started packing and clothes are all over the spare bedroom ready to go into the suitcase! Yes, looking forward to seeing all of the improvements. Every time we return we find more and more wonderful things have been added.
We usually go to La Adelita on our first night to celebrate being in Mexico! Hope to find that Mariachi band in the Riviera lobby on Saturday night and need to check on the time. Thinking that perhaps we should have dinner someplace on that end of the resort so we don’t have far to travel after dinner.
Hola! Yes, like you, I haven’t read glowing reviews about La Lola, so we’ll see if we end up trying it or not. We have only been to El Jardin for dinner on Friday evening, so perhaps we should consider dining there more often. We usually have breakfast there 3 or4 times during our stay and go to the buffet on the other days.
I want to make good choices for a la cartes. We always find something we like well enough, and I enjoy the lively atmosphere in the a la cartes.
Let the packing begin!
Thanks, Anne!
Yes, it always amazes me to see the ridiculous things that people complain about. The Palladium is such a gorgeous resort! Can’t wait to return! 9 more days!
I would be happy to take a picture of the new fridge and post it.
Just in time for our visit!
March 29, 2016 at 7:56 pm in reply to: How many times have you visited a Grand Palladium Resort ? #4631Hola Boatchick,
Yes, we’re looking forward to returning for our 11th Palladium trip. Time flies! Will definitely post a trip report. We’re sure there are many improvements, as the resort keeps getting better and better. Great that you’re heading to Jamaica next! We had fun there and stayed on the Lady Hamilton side.
Can’t wait to get back to the Grand Palladium Riviera Maya!!!!!!!!!
Happy Easter! Love the pic of Murph!
Thanks for the update. Loved reading Cutting for Stone – amazing characters. Keep the recommendations coming!
Anne, thanks for the Facebook info! Very helpful! So many wonderful choices. I enjoy Portofino (love the atmosphere there – very lively), La Adelita, and used to love Mare Nostrum, but was disappointed the last couple of times we dined there.
I enjoy hearing about everyone’s favorite restaurants/entrees. Thanks!
Thanks, Blue Skies! Loco Gringo is a great site. Helpful information for our upcoming trip. My husband would like to go to Coba again, so trying to figure out the best way to get there without breaking the bank.
Thanks, Anne! That’s good news! We were thinking of trying it on the evening after returning from Xcaret. We will definitely do so now, and report back!
We enjoyed Punta Emilia at lunchtime, too. Such a beautiful spot right on the water!
Trying to figure out which restaurants to choose for dinner this trip. If anyone has a favorite a la cartes/entrees, would love to hear your input. Thanks!
Thanks, Anne! Always difficult choosing between the various a la cartes and El Jardin. What do you recommend? What are your favorites? Thanks! Would love to know everyone’s favorite entrees!
Beautiful bride!!! Lovely photos, and a great setting! Wow! Thanks for posting
Louise, hope you had a fantastic time in Hawaii! I’ve never been, but hope to get there some day
Hope you’ll get back to a Palladium soon!
That’s wonderful news! It’ll be great to have our own little coffee pot at the table, and as Louise noted, it’ll help the waitstaff. A win-win for all!
Beautiful shot of the Secret Pool!! Wish we were there today!
Oh, good! We’ll look for them at the buffet next month. Yes, Ken loves going to Punta Emilia for lunch and likes the whole fish (with its lovely eyeball staring up at him!). It’s a great spot for lunch. He is always looking for Mexican food in the buffets at lunchtime.
Thanks!
Thank you, Anne! Good recommendation.
Looks beautiful, Louise!!!!!!!!!! Have a fantastic Hawaiian vacation!! Would love to go there someday!!
March 5, 2016 at 7:02 am in reply to: Riviera Maya – what day do the following events usually occur? #4070I’d love more information about the Saturday night Fiesta. Ken loves a mariachi band! Do you know what time the fiesta begins?
Have a great time in Hawaii, Louise!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
While we enjoyed the Palladium in Punta Cana, and also the one in Jamaica, the Grand Palladium Riviera Maya remains our favorite. It’s the one we keep returning to time after time.
March 1, 2016 at 7:30 pm in reply to: The recipe for Riviera Maya's famous Coconut Shrimp Dish #4019Yum! Thank you very much for posting the coconut shrimp dish. Can’t wait to try it at home!
March 1, 2016 at 2:37 pm in reply to: How many times have you visited a Grand Palladium Resort ? #4014Next month we’ll be heading back to Mexico to enjoy our 11th Palladium vacation!!! Can’t wait! The countdown is on!
We rented a car for a day when we went to Coba. This time we are considering taking the Ado bus from Tulum. Have any of you ever tried getting there via bus? We thought we might take the collective to Tulum Pueblo bus station and then the bus to Coba, but not sure. We may just go to Muyil again, but Ken would like to see Coba again.
Enjoyed your trip report, Joan!! Wondering what your group enjoyed eating at Mare Nostrum. It used to be my favorite a la carte, but the past couple of visits I wasn’t crazy over it. Wondering what to order! Thanks! Any entrée recommendations at the various a la cartes would be appreciated.
Thanks for posting that, Anne! We did that a number of years ago, and were just talking about possibly doing it again when we visit in April. It’s either that or returning to Coba. Anyone been to Coba lately? I really enjoyed Muyil and the canal float, too in Sian Kaan.
January 29, 2016 at 10:42 pm in reply to: Palladium Hotel Group Webcome Package Included Transfer #3059Exactly. We have done that in the past with Apple Vacation packages. Hopefully there won’t be too much waiting around at the airport. We don’t mind making a few stops along the way. Happy weekend!
January 29, 2016 at 10:29 pm in reply to: Palladium Hotel Group Webcome Package Included Transfer #3057Just wanted to report that I received our transportation vouchers for the included transfer w/ Hotelbeds. On the voucher it noted:
*maximum client waiting time, 60 minutes
*maximum waiting time for drivers in international arrivals 90 minutesHopefully we won’t have to wait too long. Would love to hear from others who have used this service. Thanks!
January 26, 2016 at 12:59 am in reply to: Palladium Hotel Group Webcome Package Included Transfer #3000I wanted to report that I heard back promptly from Zaira (thanks Blueskies!), and she gave me the list of information to fill out in order to sign up for the included transfer. We figure we’ll try it out this year in April. We’re so excited for our 11th Palladium vacation! Fingers crossed that it’s a good transfer service and that it doesn’t take too long to get to the resort.
Looks wonderful!!!! Looking forward to vacationing there someday! (although my heart will always be at our favorite resort, Grand Palladium Kantenah!
January 23, 2016 at 10:25 pm in reply to: Palladium Hotel Group Webcome Package Included Transfer #2943Thanks so much for Zaira’s email contact. I’ll make an inquiry. Palladium dreaming on a stormy night. Cape Cod was just upgraded to blizzard conditions! Enough of winter!
Love the new website!!!!!!!January 23, 2016 at 5:46 pm in reply to: Palladium Hotel Group Webcome Package Included Transfer #2940We hope to try it, too!
January 23, 2016 at 2:42 pm in reply to: Palladium Hotel Group Webcome Package Included Transfer #2935Thanks, Blueskies!!!!!!!! Perhaps we will opt to try it when we return in April. My husband thinks we should, and I’m a bit worried about how long we’ll have to wait at the airport before heading out for the various hotels along the route. I don’t mind using a shared shuttle, but just don’t want to have to wait over an hour to leave the airport once we secure our luggage, etc.
Who do we email our information to in order to book it? Directly to Zaira? If she could provide us with the correct email address, that would be very helpful. Thank you!!
Poor Peter and Carolyn, lol!! Glad they’re safe in Punta Cana, and hopefully enjoying their extended vacation.
Here on Cape Cod we’re waiting for the snow to fly and are expecting about a foot. Yuck!!!!!!!! Palladium dreaming on this wintry day…Thanks, everyone! Guess we’ll wait and figure it out as time draws closer. Please post if you read anything about Palladium transfers in the meantime. I’m leaning toward a private transfer.
Thanks.Thanks! Did Boatchick use it???
Thanks, Anne! I don’t have a Facebook account. Does the transfer company make numerous stops? My gut tells me to just book with AGI, but perhaps we could use the Palladium transfer for the return (when I’m not in that much of a hurry!lol)
Our flight gets in around 10:45a.m., and I’d hate to have to wait to fill a bus before leaving the airport.
Thanks for any and all advice. That’s wonderful news, Blueskies! We can’t wait to return in April! We booked Kantenah – have never stayed in the Royal section. Someday!!
We’re looking forward to returning yet again, and seeing all the improvements throughout the resort.
When we booked through the hotel website, it said something about transfers being included. Have you used them?? Just wondering how many stops they typically make at other hotels, or if it’s just for Palladium guests. We have always used AGI, but if the transfers are truly included, it makes sense to try. Thanks!Hola Anne, and happy birthday!!!!!!!! Glad you enjoyed a lovely dinner with your neighbors. Wish we all could have been there to celebrate with you. You are very special to all of us! Wishing you a wonderful year ahead.
A great report, as always, and beautiful photos! Boatchick, yes, you must return soon with Anne! My husband is so happy to hear that he will be able to wear nice shorts to the a la cartes this year. Hooray! We have been somewhat disappointed in La Adelita. Perhaps we just need to learn the best things to order. Love having breakfast at El Jardin on some mornings, but it’s a long walk from Kantenah, so sometimes we go to the buffet.
Anne, any plans to return in the near futue??Buenos dias! Anne, yes, you must go back for your lamb chops, lol. Loved all your photos and enjoyed your report. So glad you and Abby had a fantastic time at your home away from home. Can’t wait to return in April!
Hi,
Don’t worry. You will be fine in the Riviera section. We have been to the Palladium 10 times, and like Riviera. We had beautiful views of the water when we stayed in that section (but the trees have grown a great deal, and fewer rooms have views). Try to request a room on the top floor.
Also, try to get a room at the salt-water pool end of the Riviera section.
It is very beautiful in that section, and you will love the beautiful wooden walkways that meander through that section as you head to the pool and restaurants. When we stay in that section, we always walk to the northern end of the resort (Kantenah) to set up camp for the day. We love that stretch of beach the best, as it is the sandiest, and great for swimming, whereas there are rocks and coral the further south you go on the property. We enjoy hanging out on the Kantenah side, and at the end of the afternoon, love to stroll down to the saltwater pool for a cocktail. It’s a gorgeous spot to watch the waves crashing in, and your family will love it.
At the Palladium you have the luxury of enjoying all sections of the resort (except for Royal), so don’t limit yourself to the Riviera. Get out there and explore all the various bars, quiet pools, etc. Use this website to learn lots of tips for first-timers. You will surely have a great vacation! Please keep asking questions, as we love to help.Yes, ditto what Boatchick said so well! Thinking of you and dear Rios. So happy that you were able to enjoy Christmas at the P w/ Abby. A very special time indeed.
Yes, she is a beauty! Back to the city she goes. So glad you got to enjoy a Palladium Christmas together!
Wow, Abby’s last full day already. Time always flies while at the Palladium, that’s for sure! Sounds like you’re enjoying some great family time together though, and I’m glad the weather was sunnier. The Royal pool must be great for windy days. Have seen it, but never spent any time there.
Looking forward to reading more of your live updates. Thanks, and have fun!Hope you had a great beach day! Lobster looks delicious.
Good morning! Glad you had a nice holiday. Dinner at Punta Emilia must have been lovely. Enjoy PDC today!
Merry Christmas! Hope it’s sunny and gorgeous for you today!!!!!!! Have a wonderful holiday.
Sounds like you’ve settled right in at “home”. Would love to see the resort decorated for Christmas – must be beautiful! Thanks for the live posts! Looking forward to more.
Merry, merry…Buenos dias! Glad you’re in Royal, and are enjoying the wonderful hospitality with Abby! Sounds like you had a delicious and relaxing dinner at El Jardin. Hope the sun is shining for you today. Rainy and 60 degrees here on Cape Cod. Miss you, and wish you a Merry Christmas!
Happy birthday to Abby!!
Welcome home to you and Abby! Buiilding 70 is nice. Riviera, right? Nice location near main pool and saltwater pool!
Have fun!Buenos dias, Anne! Bon voyage, Feliz Navidad, and all things bright and beautiful!!
When are you leaving, Anne? Abby will be fine on Spirit, and hopefully her flight will be on time and flawless!
I recently read The Nightingale by Kristin Hannah, and it was a great read. Also read Me Before You by Jojo Moyes. Just ordered All the Light We Cannot See.
Have a wonderful Christmas in Mexico!! Merry, merry…Have a fantastic time, Anne, and a very merry Christmas with Abby!!
Ohhh…I love Landi! So happy for her!! She is a sweetheart!
Glad you found a good dog sitter for Murph, and are getting everything prepared for your upcoming vacation. Bet you can’t wait to return home to the Palladium and meet Abby there. Perfect!! Merry, merry…
Looking forward to hearing your impressions of all the changes.Welcome home, Louise! I enjoyed your photos, and am glad you had such a wonderful trip! Ken is German, and we’ve stopped in Munich on the plane on the way to Greece a couple of times, but haven’t had the opportunity to spend time there. Hoping to do so one of these years.
Hope you get to the Palladium soon!Happy birthday, beautiful Fernanda!! Everybody who knows you loves you!! See you in April!
When are you leaving, Anne? The countdown is on! Can’t Murph finally get to tag along??
Hola Lynn and Dave,
Hope you have a fantastic vacation!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Looking forward to hearing all about it!Yippee! My husband is so happy to hear that he’ll now be able to wear a nice pair of shorts to dinner and not have to sweat in long pants. I will say that over the years following our numerous visits to Palladiums, that it’s the only thing he ever complained about. Thanks Palladium!
