Our package was with West Jet & at that time transfers were not included but things may have changed.
May 25, 2017 at 9:48 pm in reply to: Large Family Group with all ages considering the P pv need lots of info! #11228I want to add that some advise that when you depart the airport in PV to walk over the highway on a bridge to hire a taxi for half the price. Since we were 2 females unfamiliar with PV I decided to book at the airport. Your choice as you are a large group. Others may have more info for you.
May 25, 2017 at 9:42 pm in reply to: Large Family Group with all ages considering the P pv need lots of info! #11227I agree Blueskies, I liked it more than I expected. We also enjoyed the Mexican a la carte. We were there for American Thksg & the main buffet went over the top with decorating & wonderful food. We only did one tour booked by the conceirage , a snorkel tour to hidden cave. A van took 4 of us to a small village about 20-30 minutes away. Snorkel equipment was available along with life jackets Which I wore even while snorkelling. We were taken to the Hidden Cave by motor boat, a short boat ride & he dropped anchor outside the cave & gave us as much time as we wanted. Once through the entrance, a couple of minutes swim, the ‘cave’ is open to the skies above. One person in our group stayed in the boat & just enjoyed the view. We saw multiple varieties of fish & loved it. Google this site, it is quite unique, for me anyway. We booked kayaks & my daughter booked a paddle board. There was a very small turtle enclosure & my daughter was down at the beach early every morning when a staff member was checking on the turtles (late November) so not sure if they will be there in September. We snorkelled in front of the Royal section but did not see many fish. I hope you enjoy your family gathering, sounds wonderful. If I can find some pictures I will post but I have lost many due to my laptop crashing ?. Also we took a taxi from the airport, in 2014 we booked the taxi by the exit from the airport, we paid at the counter, then gave the voucher to the driver & added a tip on arrival. Front desk booked a return transfer to the airport, we paid the driver directly, she was lovely & trying to raise 3 children, she earned her tip! The staff was warm & loving. After the first day they knew us & I would go for coffee while my daughter was jogging & as soon as she arrived they would rush over with her usual choice. If she was slow arriving they were more concerned than me. I love these kind people.
I really would love to return to PV some day with hubby as my daughter & I loved it there. Just wondering Peter if the Royal dining area has changed in the last 2 years? I loved the setting & open air while sitting ocean front.
Thanks Anne. This is so important. A serious incident just happened in BC where a family was feeding sea lions & a child was grabbed by the animal expecting to be fed more. Not the best photo op for the little girl. The one thing we love about the RM GP is the wild life & hopefully when we return one day, these animals will still be around for the guests to enjoy.
May 17, 2017 at 12:35 pm in reply to: Large Family Group with all ages considering the P pv need lots of info! #11093My daughter & I stayed in the Royal Suites at PV 2 yrs ago & loved it. I don’t recall drinking the tap water but we did brush our teeth with tap water. Bottled water was provided & also we were able to ask for it at the front desk. We had a junior suite with 2 double beds & a sleep sofa. There are a lot of stairs on the Royal side to get down to the water front but on the other side I believe one could walk directly down to the beach with few or no stairs. I don’t recall stairs there. There are a lot of stairs to go up to the main buffet. We ate at the Mexican a la carte & we climbed stairs as we sat outdoors but I don’t recall if there was a ground floor area. I am quite sure there are no stairs to get to the theatre area. The water park area for children was large & very nice. Sorry I don’t remember more details. If those who are unable to do a lot of stairs stayed in the Royal suites then there would be a few stairs to go to breakfast with an easy walking distance to the main area. Someone else might have better recall. This resort is much smaller than the RM so less walking distances.
2015 Until we meet again.
Wishing you a very happy Mother’s Day Anne & all moms! I hope the sun shines warmly upon you & Murph tomorrow. Hugs from K & I.
Myra posing! Myra having fun.
I had many staff photos but lost them when my computer crashed before I had saved them. ?
Keith & Antonio.
Just to add, 2007 was the year we had the privilege to meet Anne & Jim enjoying several evenings together in the Kantenah lobby.
Our great friend since 2007 , Jacinto.

Home sweet home after a nice time in Maui.
I love the new look. Very smart. A nice change from the floral look.
Banyan tree in Lahaina.
One of our favourite memories was meeting Rios in 2007. Hugs Anne from both of us.
Wow I got a picture posted! Above is Lanai Island across from Lahaina, Maui.
Anne I also had some delicious coconut shrimp, made me think of you. Yes I hope we meet again soon. Take care.
Maui is wonderful, very warm, & very busy. I was very lazy today but will take some photos tomorrow. The Mahi Mahi is delicious.
Great photos. Thanks for sharing. Looks wonderful in PC!
Excellent trip report as usual, gracias!
Happy New Year to everyone.
Sounds like a wonderful vacation. Enjoy the R&R.
Happy birthday to Abby!
We wish you the best vacation & a wonderful Christmas! I look forward to the photos.
Thanks Brenda, great report. Living vicariously!
That looks like an awesome welcome home Brenda. Have a lovely vacation.
Anne you will love the beach in Punta Cana, the sand is the best ever.
October 29, 2016 at 1:33 pm in reply to: Who else is getting ready for some toes in the sand time ? #7626Brenda & Anne, enjoy your countdowns. Both of you submit great trip reports, photos included so will live vicariously!??
I’m so excited for you Anne. You deserve the best vacation & enjoy your new countdown. I can’t wait for another great trip report. ??
He’s such a humble man. Sure miss seeing the GP staff this year plus our great visit with CCA! We will be back.
Anne this is so true & let the memories warm your heart.
This heart warming story is amazing Anne & brought tears to my eyes. It was our pleasure to meet Rios in 2007 & what a wonderful gentleman meeting several evenings for cocktails in the Kantenah lobby. We savor our many trips with you since then & look forward to more. Until we meet again. Hugs.
Have a great weekend Brenda & Anne. A glass or two of vino sounds like a good idea.
Thanks for the photos. I hope the Mayan folks didn’t have any damage to their homes.
I really need to follow the ‘unpack’ rule, lol!.
Sure wish we were there to join you Anne, we’ve never been to the White Party so maybe some day the 3 of us will be there. Living vicariously once again! Take care. Hugs just in case you need two!!
Have a great birthday Brenda & many more!
Anne & Brenda you are providing a lot of info for Palladium guests. Great job. I love the new look of White Sands, bright & refreshing.
Done
I vote for the same choices as Peter & Anne.
Our son was married at the GPRM & everything was perfect. Our DIL is very particular but she found all details were looked after. They found the wedding planners did take time to reply but they only have so much time to be at their desks. They are with the bride from before the wedding until after the ceremony or after the reception, depending on what you arrange. Our son commented it couldn’t have gone better so my advice would be to relax & enjoy the process of planning. One of the reasons they had a destination wedding, so they would not have to worry about details & do the work! They met with the wedding planner for less than an hour the day before the wedding & final touches were confirmed.
Sounds great!
You said it Anne, it is worth it many times over.
Have a great vacation Kern. Sure hope everything fit in your suitcase! The biggest challenge anymore is making sure I’m under the 50 lb limit.
Great response Anne. Before we travel, I check reviews about our hotels on TA. If I believed all the things written on Trip Advisor, we would never travel. Like Anne says, I cannot believe some of the negative reviews about the Mayan GP. After having stayed at this resort for a total of 17 weeks, I cannot think of an issue that is serious enough to complain about, let alone dwell on it to the point where our vacation was ruined. If you can’t find something to suit your palate in the buffets, then Stay home! Also for those complaining the resort is too large then stay in the section booked. All services are available in each section & for example one does not need to go to the Colonial section if you are staying in White Sands. Just because there are 4 sections, it doesn’t mean a person has to frequent all 4 if they find the resort too large. Just my humble opinion!
Our son & his wedding party went on a fishing trip with Captain Rick & they were picked up at the resort but things may have changed as that was 6 years ago. They were very happy with their experience. They caught some fish but left them with the crew.
I’m so glad they are now putting coffee pots on the table at breakfast. This should save the servers lots of time as well.
Miss you too. Hugs.
March 2, 2016 at 9:43 pm in reply to: How many times have you visited a Grand Palladium Resort ? #40439 times to the Riviera Maya for a total of 17 weeks which included our son’s fabulous wedding with our friend Cape Cod Anne in attendance. Then once to Peurto Vallarta with my daughter, we stayed on the Royal side & highly recommend that side of the resort. Love the Palladium & our wonderful visits with Anne.
Yes a reunion. I hope your Punta Cana plans work out. If we win the lottery will send for you.
I know Anne, we will miss you & K will miss his chats with you . It seems odd to not be going to the GP & will especially miss your company. Will send photos. Looking forward to a new experience though. In Vancouver tonight & up early tomorrow. We have had an excess of rain so looking forward to some sunshine.
I’m sure you thought of this but would it work for you to fly to NY & fly with Abby for the good deal you got for her?
I’ll send you my life vest!
My DIL’s answer to getting more points is more shopping. I try hard so you ladies need todos hopping, lol! Good luck in your search Anne.
Punta Cana has the best sand beaches we have experienced. I wish we had known about the Palladium even though the resort we were at was pretty good.
Puerto Vallarta has some of the best views especially this one at the Mexican a la carte. My daughter & I sat at this very table with an awesome view of the sunset. Also the Royal restaurant is water front with amazing views at every meal.
Good luck Anne. A long countdown for you so that will be exciting. We were at Punta Cana many years ago & loved the lovely sandy beaches.
Great job ladies. You both deserve a vacation!
I wish I had that body too! Will miss all those hugs this year too. The Mayans are such loveable people. We always have fun with you Anne, you have a great sense of humor.
I love all the different paths at the GP & they all lead to a great vacation.
Yes we had fun, the Palladium staff went to a lot of work to make it a fun night.
Sadly we won’t be watching the Super Bowl at the Palladium this year. Jacinto will wonder where we are.
Like Anne said, so many places, but my problem is not the time, I have the time, I just need a lottery. LOL!
After viewing the ambassador suite & all the frills, I am beginning to wonder why Peter & his wife are going home!!
We thought of Abby when we saw NYC was shutdown. Good thing it is the weekend. I hope she doesn’t get cabin fever! I hope Peter reports how he handled his trip insurance, we have never had to use ours & rarely take our smart phone on our trips but do have an iPad. We always use a travel agent so wondering if they would look after the arrangements. We’ve been delayed as many as 17 hours but that was no biggy. Lost luggage was always found in the End!
Good place to be stranded. I hope you are safe in SC Anne. We get some info about the weather but not specific. Sounds nasty though.
Excellent. I will print this as it is much neater & more organized than my check list. Gracias.
Good information as usual. Enjoy your countdown ladies.
Everything looks delicious!
Make that tres, por favor! We will be right there! Vino later.
The GP staff do know how to make any occasion special. I would love to be there for Christmas sometime. Thanks Anne for your trip reports & photos. It helps me enjoy my morning coffee!
A great idea. Congrats to #58!
Ahhh!! Living vicariously in 2016!
Anne & Brenda, the new site looks great. I love reading everyone’s comments & reviewing their photos. I know how much work Anne always puts into this site & so nice for you to have Brenda assisting you. Congratulations!
Gracias Anne! I am loving your trip reports & the slide show is even better. Sounds like as perfect a vacation as one can get.
I’m so glad you are home safely & that you had a wonderful Christmas with Abby. Murph will be happy now! K & I wish you all the best in 2016 & may we meet again soon.
We have been to the Palladium 10 times & we are very particular about cleanliness, etc so do not believe everything you read on TA. I can say it is not perfect but you are in a foreign country & this is as good as it gets when travelling. We love this resort, the staff, & have no complaints. Just go & relax & enjoy. This site is full of information & you can get answers to all your questions here. Our son was married at this resort with 40 guests, we did not hear one complaint from anyone & most were well travelled.
I will copy Boatchick’s words, well said. Enjoy your last moments. Safe trip home.
I know the feeling Anne. Sweet memories though until the next time, lovely picture of Abby.
The moon was perfect here too but it would have been even better at the GP. Sounds like the Royal treatment all way round, relax, enjoy which you so deserve.
I hope the sun comes out for the rest of your vacation.
So glad all went well. Happy birthday to Abby. Have a wonderful time. Merry Christmas !
Anne, Keith & I wish you & Abby a very Merry Christmas. Have a great vacation.
Brenda, I wish you & yours a very Merry Christmas.
We wish you a very happy Christmas with Abby, safe journey.
Oh dear, Too bad Murph prefers laundry items over his dog food, lol! I’m glad he is feeling better & so glad you found a caretaker for him. I hope you are keeping your suitcase out of site!
Peter, I’m sure you will be a great help to those who have TC questions as your reviews are always excellent. Another nice addition to this site.
Yes Brenda. We thoroughly enjoy the tours we have done with Insight Vacations, The guides are fantastic & the drivers always make us feel safe. We meet people from all over but it seems the greatest number are Australians.
December 13, 2015 at 6:28 pm in reply to: Unofficial Palladium site can now be seen in a plethora of languages. #1946That is great. A good way for me to review my Spanish too. Thanks. This new site is wonderful.
Absolutely.
Happy Thanksgiving Anne & to all. We pray for safety & peace for everyone.
Sounds exciting Brenda. How far from the airport to the new resort? Have a great vacation.
Log in worked fine this am. Enjoying a nice breakfast.
